Day 7. Ohrid
After breakfast, city tour in Ohrid. Visiting all ancient monuments (Ancient Theatre, Early Cristianian basilicas), medieval churches (St. Sofia, St. Mary Perivleptos - first renaissance paintings in the world from 1295), the Gallery of icons etc. Free afternoon and evening, for a recommended brake in the middle of the arrangement.
Day 8. Ohrid, St. Naum
After breakfast, a full day boat tour to monastery of St. Naum is planed. After visiting, the monastery of St. Naum and the springs of river Crni Drim, lunch will be served in the fishermen village of Trpejca. In the afternoon a visit to the unique church of St. Mary Zahumska, reachable only by the lake, will be organized. Free evening in Ohrid. Eventually: folklore evening.
Day 9. Ohrid, Struga, Mavrovo and the
Monastery of St. John Bigorski.
After breakfast departure to Struga, and the cave churches around Struga dating back to the XIV century. Continuing to National park of Mavrovo, with visit to the monastery of St. John Bigorski. Lunch will be organized at the shores of the Mavrovo, artificial lake. Coming back to Ohrid in the early evening hours. Evening at leisure.
Day 10. Ohrid, Heraklea Lyncestis, Stobi, Skopje
Departure on a full day tour through central Macedonia to Skopje. The tour starts with magnificent, spectacular views from the top of National park of Mt. Galicica, to both, Ohrid and Prespa lakes. Visit to Prespa Lake, and short coffee brake in Otesevo, on the shores of the lake. Visit to Bitola, the city of consuls and the ancient Roman city of Heraclea Lyncestis. After contact with beautiful mosaics and archeological museum, the trip continues to Stobi, the largest ancient Roman sight in Macedonia. Lunch will be on the slopes of mt. Pletvar (the marble mountain). After visiting Stobi, the trip ends in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. Accommodation in hotel. Free evening.
Day 11. Skopje, City of Mother Teresa
After breakfast, a city sightseeing tour with visit to the Kursumli An with an ancient Roman statues exhibition, the old bazaar and the church if St. Spas.Visit to the monument of Mother Teresa, visit to the church of St. Andrew in the locality Matka, on the most picturesque canyon in Macedonia on the river Treska. Visit to the monastery of St. Panteleimon in Nerezi. Lunch in monastery complex. Back to the hotel in the evening. Free evening for walking and enjoying in the city center.
Day 12. Skopje. Plovdiv (Bulgaria)
After breakfast, trip to Bulgaria. After crossing the border, in the direction to Sofia, visit to the Rila monastery, one of the monumental monasteries in Bulgaria. The trip continues to Plovdiv the second largest city in Bulgaria and an old Roman settlement. Accommodation in hotel. Free evening. Folklore evening in addition.
Day 13. Plovdiv, Sofia, Monastery St. Joachim Osogovski
After breakfast a sightseeing of Plovdiv ancient localities and the old urban nucleus will be organized. Departure to Sofia, Panoramic sight seeing of Sofia and a short break in the central area of the city. Departure to Macedonia. After crossing the Macedonian - Bulgarian border, accommodation in the monastery complex of St. Joachim Osogovski, from the XIV century.
Day 14. Skopje, Ohrid, Duress
(or else, depending of the departure point)
After breakfast visiting the church interior and the surrounding of an untouched nature (beautiful scenery). Departure to the start point in Duress, Albania. Finish of the program in the evening.
NOTE:
This program can be changed according to Your wishes. We reccommend the change of program by shortening the stay in Albania, and having a couple of extra days in Ohrid, for a good rest and fun.
